Style Q&A with Lexi Jayde

Ava: First things first—walk us through your look and where everything is from!

Lexi: This is my absolute favorite question! Pretty much everything I’m wearing today is vintage. The necklace is a recent find from a super cool vintage shop in Florence, Italy. The top is untagged but it’s from A Current Affair flea market in LA, and these jeans are Japanese denim from Bluey Denim—they fit like a glove. To top it off, I’m wearing my vintage Chanel heels. They were actually my first big Chanel purchase, and I’ve worn them into the ground. They're practically falling apart, but totally worth it.

Ava: If you could raid anyone’s closet for a day, who’s at the top of your list?

Lexi: Sarah Jessica Parker, without a doubt. I’d love to dive into her archive, especially her 90s closet. I love anything Carrie Bradshaw-coded.

Ava: You’re huge on vintage shopping. Has that always been your go-to?

Lexi: Always. Back in middle school, I was hitting every thrift store possible, putting together the weirdest outfits imaginable. Looking back at pictures now, I’m like, “What was I doing?” But at the time, those outfits were very in. I just love wearing second-hand pieces because there’s a rare story behind them—plus, no one else is going to have the exact same item.

Ava: What’s a current trend you’re obsessed with, and what's one non-negotiable closet staple?

Lexi: Ballet flats paired with anything—sweatpants, pajamas, dresses, Japanese denim. It just gives an off-duty look that instant boost of confidence. As for a staple? A perfect white baby-tee. If you have the perfect-fitting white t-shirt, you can make any outfit work.

Ava: How would you describe the relationship between your personal style and your sound?

Lexi: My music is very romantic, dreamy, and feminine, and my wardrobe definitely mirrors that. It’s flirty, youthful, and tasteful, but with a bit of a confident edge. I’m always drawn to timeless, chic pieces.

Ava: Talk to us about your upcoming album. What’s the story behind it?

Lexi: It’s called Lover Girl, and it functions like a diary of the last four years of my life. Navigating your 20s is chaotic, emotional, and confusing. The album touches on heartbreak, loss, anxiety, and the journey of figuring out who you are when you feel like you aren't enough. I chose the title because no matter how many times my heart gets broken—whether by love or life—I’ll always choose to love again. Being a “lover girl” isn’t just romantic; it’s a mindset and a way of moving through the world.

Ava: What do you hope people take away when they listen to these songs?

Lexi: I think the more people understand that everybody feels these things, the less daunting it all feels. 'Cause we really are all connected—we're all human! Knowing that my personal stories can help someone else feel less alone or process their own feelings is the whole reason I do this.

Ava: How has your perspective on heartbreak evolved since you were 18?

Lexi: At 18, my first heartbreak felt like the end of the world. I thought I’d never love like that again. Now, with a few more years and heartbreaks under my belt, I realize everyone enters your life for a reason. Every loss teaches you what you want, what you don't want, and reveals a new side of yourself. Time really does heal all wounds. When you reach a point where you can look back on a past relationship and appreciate the beauty of it instead of just feeling the pain, that’s real growth.

Ava: If someone is listening to your music for the first time, which three tracks should they start with?

Lexi:

"You're Still Mine" – The lead single that really shows my new era.

"Misunderstood" – An unreleased album track that really showcases my core as a songwriter.

"I've Missed You Longer" – Pure, fun Lover Girl energy that is also on the upcoming album.

Ava: When did you realize music was your lifelong path?

Lexi: Subconsciously, I’ve always known. I was writing songs at five years old, forcing my parents to sit in the living room while I performed into my Hannah Montana mic with the Britney-style headset! But as I got older, matured, and started having real-life experiences, that’s when I realized music was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

Seeing how a song connects with people all around the world, how my personal stories become other people's stories, and how it helps them feel less alone is something that will never get old for me. I just feel so lucky that I have songwriting as an outlet to express my thoughts and emotions. I want to be doing this forever.

Ava: What’s your ultimate piece of advice for young creatives trying to make it in the industry?

Lexi: Never give up on your dreams. There are going to be so many people who tell you that you aren’t good enough, make you feel less-than, or make you feel like you aren't worthy of being in the room. You have to try your best to block all of that noise out.

Truthfully, all that matters is that you love it, you want to pursue it, and it’s your dream. Put your all into it, go for it, ignore the haters, and don't let anybody make you feel like you can’t succeed. Doing what you love is the biggest success of all.
